Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 003 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.181(g)(1): A thorough inspection of all ropes in use shall be made at least once a month and a certification record which includes the data of inspection the signature of the person when performed the inspection and an identifier for the ropes which were inspected shall be prepared and kept on file where readily available: The employer if failing to protect employees from struck by hazards associated with operating derrick without having certified the monthly inspections of the ropes. The most recent occurrence of this was evident on May 23, 2018 during the investigation of a workplace injury 1 Block west of the intersection of Highways 281 and 34 in Grand Island, NE where the employer has crews of two employees operating Pumpsetter trucks; each truck has a company engineered and installed derrick used to pull pipes and pumps weighing over 2,000 pounds without having certified the monthly inspection of the ropes.
