Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 001B Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.147(d):Application of control. The established procedures for the application of energy control (the lockout or tagout procedures) shall cover the following elements and actions and shall be done in the following sequence: On or about April 15, 2021, the employer did not ensure maintenance technicians' performing service by replacing the rails and fingers of the Paw Picker Machine applied and followed the established energy control procedures by; turning off or shutting down the machine [per 1910.147(d)(2)], isolating the machine from the electrical energy source [(d)(3)], affixing a lockout device [(d)(4)(i)], and verifying de-energization and isolation had been accomplished [(d)(6)], prior to servicing the machine. CASE FARMS PROCESSING, INC., WAS PREVIOUSLY CITED FOR A VIOLATION OF THIS OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARD OR ITS EQUIVALENT STANDARD, 29 CFR 1910.147(d)(3), WHICH WAS CONTAINED IN OSHA INSPECTION NUMBER 1048762, CITATION NUMBER 01, ITEM NUMBER 002a, AND WAS AFFIRMED AS A FINAL ORDER ON MARCH, 21, 2019, WITH RESPECT TO A WORK PLACE LOCATED AT 1925 30TH STREET, NE, CANTON, OHIO.
