Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 005 Hazard: ELECTRIC
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to electrocution. (a) Location: Smith Dairy Farm, 6345 County Rd. 33, Ymua CO. 80259, On or about May 3, 1994, an employee was fatality electrocuted while installing a new fence/gate next to the maternity barn. The non metallic sheathed cable (romex) leading into the conduit approximately two feet above the electrical box was not adequately closed. An acceptable way of abating this hazard would be to install the electrical system per the National Electrical Code book listed in article 370-17(a) and close the opening where the "romex" enters the conduit.
