Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 004A Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.95(b)(1):When employees were subjected to sound exceeding those listed in Table G-16, feasible administrative controls were not utilized: (a)Protective Coating Specialists, Inc. at 1350 7th Street Northwest, Huron, SD 57350: On or about and at times prior to December 4, 2023, the employer did not ensure that employees performing work in the abrasive blasting booth were protected from occupational noise exposure by feasible engineering, administrative or personal protective equipment controls. An employee was exposed to noise levels of 104.8 dBA as an 8-hour time weighted average when performing work in the abrasive blasting booth. The employee intermittently utilized 3M Peltor X3A ear muffs that provided a noise reduction rating of 28 dBA when working in the booth. These controls did not reduce the employee's noise exposure to acceptable levels. This condition exposed employees to potential hearing loss.
