Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: %% The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Performing ankle bungee jumps from a hot air balloon. An employee testing the bungee jump equipment left the balloon in an ankle harness, the balloon was approximately 190 feet above ground level, at 6300 Tennyson Street, Arvada, Colorado. The employee struck the ground head first at a high rate of speed. "AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO PROHIBIT ALL JUMPS USING ANKLE STRAPS AS PER THE NORTH AMERICAN BUNGEE ASSOCIATION GUIDELINES."
