29 CFR 1910.217(c)(2)(i)(b): Point of operation guard(s) on mechanical power press(es) did not conform to the maximum permissible opening(s) specified in Table 10 O-10: A.) Tonnard Manufacturing Corporation - On or about 10/1/20, and at times prior thereto, the guards on presses, including, but not limited to, the 24 ton Niagara punch press (Model #A3; #28) did not have an adequate guard to prevent employees from being able to put their hands into the point of operation. The plexiglass type guard had openings that were 5-7 inches wide and up to 5 inches high. The guard was approximately 7 inches from the point of operation. Table O-10 specifies a maximum opening of 3/4-inch to 7/8-inch. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED: Abatement certification is required within 10 days after the abatement date noted on the citation. This certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, the date abatement was completed, method of abatement, and state that employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement. IN ADDITION, abatement documentation shall include documents demonstrating that abatement is complete, such as evidence of the purchase or repair of equipment, photographic, or video evidence or abatement or other written records.
