29 CFR 1910.138(b):The employer did not base selection of appropriate hand protection on an evaluation of the performance characteristics of the hand protection relative to the tasks to be performed, conditions present, duration of use, and the hazards and potential hazards identified: (a) Trinidad/Benham Corp., at 1500 Right of Way Road, Sterling, CO: On and preceding 1/28/2021, the employer did not base selection of appropriate hand protection on an evaluation of the performance characteristics of the hand protection relative to the tasks to be performed, conditions present, duration of use, and the hazards and potential hazards identified. Employees removed bags that jammed the point of operation of HRH Technologies packaging machine number 13. The point of operation contained a heat sealing wire and a sharp serrated blade. The gloves provided by the employer were not cut resistant. This condition exposed employees to a laceration hazard. (b) Trinidad/Benham Corp., at 1500 Right of Way Road, Sterling, CO: On and preceding 1/28/2021, the employer did not base selection of appropriate hand protection on an evaluation of the performance characteristics of the hand protection relative to the tasks to be performed, conditions present, duration of use, and the hazards and potential hazards identified. Employees replaced the heat sealing wire or the sharp serrated blade for HRH Technologies packaging machine number 13. The gloves provided by the employer were not cut resistant. This condition exposed employees to a laceration hazard.
