Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001A Hazard: BURNS
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to burns: On or about April 12, 2005, and times prior thereto, at this location, employees engaged in pants press operation were exposed to burns from the pants press machine when the employer failed to provide a preventative maintenance program. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement to correct this hazard would be to develop a preventative maintenance schedule as stated in the manufacturer's instruction and parts manual.
