Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety & Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that, employees were exposed to crushing hazards from cargo being handled on the slave pallet without the material stops being in the up position. Warehouse The employer did not ensure that the employees placed the material stops in the up position on the slave pallet to prevent the material being handled from sliding off the slave pallet. "ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION IS REQUIRED FOR THIS ITEM". One feasible abatement method among others would be to ensure that the material stops are kept in the up-locked position at all times.
