OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to falls from riding in the back of moving trucks: The employer is failing to protect employees from the hazards of falling out of the bed of a work vehicle, This was most recently documented on or about July 21, 2022, At a worksite located near Missouri Hwy 13 and SE 640 Road, Warrensburg, Missouri in which an employee did fall out of the truck and died of multiple blunt force injuries. The feasible and acceptable methods of abatement include: ? Not allowing employees to ride in the pickup truck bed while the vehicle is in motion to perform sign placement and retrieval. ? Ensure employees only ride in vehicle areas equipped with a seat and safety belt, as referenced in all editions of the 2004 Ford F-150 vehicle manual available on Ford's website at http://owner.ford.com. ? In the event the practice is required to complete the task ensure the employee is restrained within the pickup truck bed using an ANSI- approved fall restraint system.
