Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): OSH ACT of 1970 SECTION (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to amputation and caught-in-between hazards: At 420 W. Lincoln Blvd. in Hesston, Kansas, employees were exposed to amputation hazards. These amputation hazards are associated with the use of a hook and winch to move flat plates of steel. On or about November 15, 2021, two employees were working on opposite ends of the winch. One employee was operating the controls, while a second employee was at the end with the hook. The injured employee had their fingers between the hook and the plate when the additional employee positioned on the opposite side of the winch pushed the button to pull the winch tight. This action lead to the amputation of the injured employees left middle finger.
