29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a) On or about November 15, 2021 the employer failed to ensure that effective machine guarding was present on the D&P automatic line #1. Guarding was not in place to protect the operator and other employees from the automatic moving machine parts including but not limited to pluckers, pickers, automatic arms, the carousel, and other moving machine components. The equipment was equipped with an emergency stop pull cord around the equipment. This safeguard mechanism does not prevent employees from reaching into hazardous areas during operation. b) On or about November 15, 2021 the employer failed to ensure that effective machine guarding was present on the D&P automatic line #2. Guarding was not in place to protect the operator and other employees from the automatic moving machine parts including but not limited to pluckers, pickers, automatic arms, the carousel, and other moving machine components. The equipment was equipped with an emergency stop pull cord around the equipment. This safeguard mechanism does not prevent employees from reaching into hazardous areas during operation. e) On or about November 15, 2021 the employer failed to ensure that effective machine guarding was present on the D&P automatic line #5. Guarding was not in place to protect the operator and other employees from the automatic moving machine parts including but not limited to pluckers, pickers, automatic arms, the carousel, and other moving machine components. The equipment was equipped with a floor mounted presence sensing light curtain which shut the equipment down if an employee entered the carousel area. This line was not however equipped with an emergency stop pull cord.
