29 CFR 1926.760(a)(3): Employees working in controlled decking zones shall be protected from fall hazards as provided in 1926.760(c), which requires the establishment of a controlled decking zone over 15 and up to 30 feet above a lower level where metal decking is initially being installed and forms the leading edge of a work area, and limiting access to the controlled decking zone to employees engaged in leading edge work. On February 11, 2020, there was an employee within a controlled decking zone who was not engaged in leading edge work. The employee inadvertently tripped and fell about 20 feet through an opening in metal decking.
